TIKTOK VIDEO INVESTIGATES THE PUZZLE OF NON-EXISTENT ATTRACTION
A TikTok video from filmmaker Brett Chapman, caught our attention recently...
Brett's parents had planned a fun day out for his nephew at the National Museum of Legends and Mythology in Manchester only to find that it didn’t exist!
We can reveal that the National Museum of Legends and Mythology is indeed a myth. As regular players of our games will know, it’s the setting for the death of Claudia Cobb in The Cursed Exhibition. Imagine our surprise to see it blowing up on TikTok!
We aim to make our games feel ultra-realistic so players get to feel as much like real detectives as possible, including designing and building believable (and humorous websites), but in this case it seems we did too good a job!
The Detective Society has created over 70 fake websites to support our games, including Mismatch Dating, Sir Frothalot Coffee and Save the Kittens. As yet, no one has tried to adopt a kitten.
The Detective Society uses software on our websites to try and block Google from finding them, so that people only go to the website if directed there while playing a game, but sometimes the search robots are very persistent and get through.
The Detective Society has updated the ‘Museum’s’ website to deter future travellers and we have sent Brett and his nephew some games as a thank you!
What an adventure, right?!
